# Which product categories does Powder have commerce evidence for?

Powder Evidence holds retrievable commerce evidence for companion-animal, general retail and CPG, and beauty products. A question with no relevant evidence returns a gap, and every question costs $0.10 either way. Send `POST https://agents.dubbleblack.com/zcj/ovyds1elb3mr/api/agent/evidence` with a plain-language `query`, then pay the 402 price quote and retry.

## At a glance

- **Categories:** companion-animal, general retail and CPG, and beauty. The evidence categories are pet calming, mobility, wellness, grooming and treats; snacks, nuts and confectionery; and beauty, personal care and household.
- **Evidence types:** catalog, behavioral click and observed conversion.
- **Inventory:** 163 retrievable evidence subjects, of 187 held. Coverage changes as new evidence is added.
- **Endpoint:** `POST https://agents.dubbleblack.com/zcj/ovyds1elb3mr/api/agent/evidence` with a JSON body such as `{"query": "...", "limit": 3}`
- **Price:** $0.10. A gap answer costs the same.
- **Payment:** x402 (Base USDC) or MPP (Tempo USDC). No account or API key is needed.
- **Response:** a coverage state (owned, supplemented, external or gap, sent in lower case as the gap example below shows), evidence records with provenance and limitations, and an Evidence Score.
- **Full purchase flow:** [the buyer skill](https://agents.dubbleblack.com/zcj/ovyds1elb3mr/SKILL.md)

## Phrase a question so it routes

Put the question in `query` in plain language, up to 2,000 characters. Ask about one subject, or make an explicit comparison of two. `vertical` is an optional routing hint. Plain terms such as pet, calming, food or personal care work, and Powder's internal taxonomy is not needed. `limit` sets the number of results, from 1 to 10, with a default of 5.

```json
{"query": "Which foaming facial cleanser should I consider?", "vertical": "personal care", "limit": 3}
```

The request has no budget fields. A request with `budget_min` or `budget_max` returns `400`, and so does an ambiguous request with several selectors. The published category list is at `https://data.dubbleblack.com/capabilities`.

## What a gap answer looks like

A gap means Powder found no relevant owned evidence. The answer is a successful `200`, not an API failure, and it is not negative evidence about the product. This request asks about a cordless drill, which is outside the categories:

```http
POST https://agents.dubbleblack.com/zcj/ovyds1elb3mr/api/agent/evidence
Content-Type: application/json
{"query": "Which cordless drill should I buy for home projects?", "limit": 3, "max_external_sources": 0}
```

This example paid $0.10 and returned `200` with this response, shown abridged.

```json
{
  "schema_version": "2.0",
  "evidence_available": false,
  "evidence": [],
  "results_returned": 0,
  "errors": [],
  "coverage": {"state": "gap", "owned_evidence_available": false},
  "evidence_score": {"score": 0, "band": "limited", "limitations": ["no relevant owned evidence"]},
  "coverage_state": "gap"
}
```

The example sets `max_external_sources`, which takes 0 to 10 and defaults to 2, to 0, so the call draws on Powder's own evidence only.

## What is charged, and when

- Each question is one request at $0.10, whether it returns evidence or a gap. Ten questions cost $1.
- Card pays a pay-as-you-go call only when that call costs $0.50 or more.
- Credits are an optional prepaid balance. They start at $0.50, or $0.50 by card, and need a buyer identity. You buy them with `POST /plans/{planId}/purchase`, and the plan is listed in `https://agents.dubbleblack.com/zcj/ovyds1elb3mr/manifest.json`.
- Powder is not a web search engine or a product availability service.

## Frequently asked questions

### Does Powder have evidence for pet products?

Yes. Companion-animal is one of the three categories. Its evidence categories cover calming, mobility, wellness, grooming and treats for pets. Coverage within each category depends on which subjects hold evidence, and it grows as evidence is added.

### What happens when Powder has no evidence for a product?

The response is a `200` with the coverage state gap, an empty `evidence` list and an Evidence Score of zero. The question is charged at $0.10, like any other. A gap means Powder does not know about the product. It says nothing about whether the product is good.

### Does the Evidence Score rate the product?

No. The Evidence Score measures the strength and depth of the evidence. It does not measure product quality, recommendation confidence or purchase probability. Powder returns evidence and its limitations, and you decide whether that evidence is enough for your task.

### Are observed conversions confirmed purchases?

No. An observed conversion stays an observed conversion, and its commerce status is unknown. Evidence about a broader brand or offer is not treated as evidence for a specific product.

### Does a question need an account or API key?

No. A pay-as-you-go question needs only a signed x402 or MPP payment. Credits purchases and top-ups need a buyer identity.
